Intensive Outpatient
Program
Receive guidance and support that fits your lifestyle.
A flexible yet structured
outpatient program
For effective treatment of substance use disorder,
including alcohol
Andy’s House Treatment Centre’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured, evidenced based program that is ideal for individuals who suffer from a moderate level of addiction severity and are not able to commit to a residential program. Many people find the flexibility of outpatient treatment a better fit for their lifestyle.
The IOP allows clients the flexibility to maintain their daily work and home life with a positive support system in place. The program lasts for a duration of 16-weeks long and includes 3 evening sessions per week, lasting 2-3 hours each.
Based on the
effective Matrix
Model
Our IOP program is based on a model developed in the 1980s by the Matrix Institute (USA). The Matrix Model is recognized as an effective treatment for stimulant addiction and has also been successful in the treatment of alcohol and other drug addictions. Independent clinical trials show the program’s success rates to be significantly higher than those of other treatment approaches.
The Matrix Model
-
Is empirically supported and recommended by The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
-
Has evidence-based status with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
-
Is endorsed by the US Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs and Health, 2016.

Individual / Conjoint
Family SessionsUsing motivational interviewing skills and CBT techniques, these sessions help reduce ambivalence in the client. When necessary, significant others and family members are included in these sessions to address the current needs of the client and to educate family members on issues associated with substance abuse, addiction, and dependence.
-
Early Recovery Skills Group Sessions
Group sessions focused on early recovery skills are completed over the first month of treatment and are co-facilitated by the therapist and a client that is established in recovery. They are intended to be more educational than therapeutic. The ERS group is focused on the concept that the client has the power to increase the odds of abstinence and that while individual treatment can be helpful, someone attempting to achieve lasting recovery will benefit most from also attending community-based groups.
-
Relapse Prevention Group Sessions
This group focuses on the idea that relapse is a predictable, non-random event that is obvious to the therapist and other clients. The goal of these groups is to educate the client and identify the signs of relapse early so it can be prevented. Topics involve shame, guilt, and resentment, finding appropriate uses of time, ways to build motivation, identifying triggers of relapse and building self-monitoring skills while downplaying the role of willpower.
-
Family Education Group Sessions
At Andy’s House, we believe that treatment outcomes improve when the entire family and support network of the client are active in treatment. The family will learn information related to addiction and recovery and will receive education regarding the signs of relapse and ways to modify their behaviors to be more desirable and helpful for the client. Both clients and their families are encouraged to attend these sessions together.
Is the 90 Day
Residential Program
